Figure 1 - Center-to-Field Diagram: Consensus-based working groups are developing C2C standards, called NTCIP standards. These standards are organized in layers, similar to the ISO framework model. NTCIP C2C standards address the Application, Transport, and Subnetwork Levels. ITS and NTCIP leverage existing computer and telecommunications industry base standards, and specify what is mandatory and optional where alternatives are available for ITS applications.
